The Train’s On Its Way

Netanya will be connected by two arteries of the NTA Metropolitan Mass Transit System (Matan) to Herzliya and Kfar Saba, and to the planned Metro system

At the initiative of the Municipality administration and the Ministry of Transport, and as advanced by Ayalon Highways, Netanya will be connected by two arteries of the NTA Metropolitan Mass Transit System (Matan) to Herzliya and Kfar Saba, and to the planned Metro system . This is what emerges from the decision taken by the Ministry of Transport, headed by Minister Miri Regev, in light of the anticipated increase in the number of city residents, and the fact that Netanya – unlike the metropolitan cities of Tel Aviv – lacks effective public transportation.

According to Erez Tal, the City Engineer, the transportation arteries, the Light Rail, and the connection to the Metro, will dramatically advance the transportation map in Netanya, and allow city development and the best way of moving between Tel Aviv’s metropolitan cities and Netanya. “There is great importance,” noted Tal, “in incorporation of the Matan system in Netanya, which will enable the realization of the number of housing units planned as part of broad municipal urban renewal in Netanya and the new neighborhoods. In addition, we need to remember that the city serves as the largest metropolitan employment area in Israel, comprising an employment infrastructure for the city and entire area, and this is an area which requires advanced transportation solutions.”

he planning of the transportation arteries is being advanced, as noted, by the Ayalon Highways planning staff, in cooperation with the Netanya Municipality engineering staff.
