Accessibility Statement

​The Netanya Municipality makes the greatest possible efforts and invests many resources to provide all city residents with equitable, respectful, accessible, and professional services. In accordance with the Equal Rights of Persons with Disabilities Law, 5758-1998, and the regulations legislated thereunder, many efforts and resources are invested in performing the necessary accessibility adaptions so that a person with disabilities can obtain the services given to all clients, independently and equitably.

Accessibility for municipal services

• Physical accessibilit​y – in places offering services to the public, disabled parking bays, access aisles, ramps, and handrails, elevators and wheelchair lifts, equipped accessible toilets, signing, directions, etc. have been added
  
• Guidance for employees regarding accessibility services – several guidance sessions have been held for employees who provide services, to gain familiarity with the field of accessibility, creating awareness among the employees, and providing practical tools to provide accessible services
  
• Accessible telephone call center – the answering service has been made accessible, so that information is given clearly and without background music
• Means of communication – there are several means of contacting us:

1. In-person service – days and times when open to the public are listed on the website according to departments

Website accessibility 

An accessible website is a website which enables people with disabilities and the elderly to browse with the same level of effectivity and enjoyment as other users. Around 20-25% of the population have difficulties when using the internet, and can benefit from more accessible internet content – this is according to a study conducted by Microsoft in 2003

The Netanya Municipality believes in and works for equal opportunities in the internet setting for people with a range of disabilities and people who employ assistive technology when using a computer

Information about accessibility of the website

• This website meets the demands of Regulations for Equal Rights of Persons with Disabilities (Adjustments for Access to Service), 5773-2013
• Accessibility adaptions were carried out according to the recommendations of the Israeli Standard 5568 at Level AA, and the international WCAG 2.0
• The tests were for the highest compatibility for the Chrome browser
• The website provides a semantic structure for assistive technologies and support for traditional keyboard use using the arrow keys, Enter, and Esc, to leave the menus and windows
• It is adapted to display on the common browsers and for use on a cell phone
• To enjoy the best possible internet experience with a screen reading program, we recommend using the most up-to-date version of NVDA
• Documents or video clips posted to the website before October 2017 may not be fully accessible. If you encounter such a document or clip, you can contact the Accessibility Coordinator at the Netanya Municipality and we will make sure to make the information accessible for you
• Giving information in an accessible format – the municipality provides its residents with the possibility of obtaining information in accessible formats. The information is free of charge and intended for people with disabilities. It should be noted that we are still working to improve the accessibility of the municipality services, buildings, and environment, as part of our commitment to allowing the entire population, including people with disabilities, to receive the most accessible services.
