The year that was - Summing up 2024 in Netanya

Last year essentially began on the seventh of October, and since then so much has changed

Bereavement met beautiful young people who came to celebrate life, but we also discovered how wonderful our nation is – the resilience, the volunteering, and the clear understanding that “we don’t have another land.”

We have chosen to share with you the prominent events each month in the year which has drawn to a close.

January 2024 – Netanya was crowned first place in Israel regarding the number of building permits in pinui binui projects, with 1,378 housing units authorized for construction.

February 2024 – the Netanya Municipality opened a workshop for women, to identify and help women experiencing domestic violence.

March 2024 – the second stage of the wave breakers project was approved.

April 2024 – the education summit week was dedicated to reinforcement and coping with the repercussions of the war.

May 2024 – this year, too, Netanya’s beaches were awarded “The Blue Flag,” thanks to their maintaining environmental protection, accessibility, and sustainability.

June 2024 – the Netanya Municipality launched a new business podcast which provides a platform for Netanya businesses to help them grow.

July 2024 – the municipal market was renovated and became “the Market Yard,” an urban site combining food and entertainment.

August 2024 – three Netanya sportsmen won Olympic medals in Paris 2024 – an unprecedented achievement for the city. In addition, tens of thousands of people enjoyed summer shows at Festivocali 8.

September 2024 – the new arena, Pais Arena, opened with 2,500 seats for basketball games and performances.

October 2024 – work began to pave the Netanya East bypass road, including public transport routes, bike lanes, and upgrading infrastructure.

November 2024 – after a five-year break, the Run the Beach event returned with over 1,000 participants, and a popular heat in memory of the fallen.

December 2024 – launch of the Red Line project which will improve public transportation and connect Netanya from the north to south.

Together we will continue to develop our city, preserve our resilience, and flourish.

To help us all, we will pray for the welfare of the IDF soldiers and security forces, and for the safe return of the hostages to their homes.

Wishing everyone a happy and blessed civil new year!

The Netanya Municipality
