About the Event

“Yoga for All: A Day of Health and Harmony” is more than an event - it is a call for peace, a celebration of culture, and an invitation to grow stronger together

On the evening of June 9, 2025, Independence Square in Netanya will transform into a vibrant space of wellness, peace, and cultural exchange as the city hosts a special Pre-Yoga and Indian Musical Night in celebration of the 11th International Yoga Day.

Organized in collaboration with the Embassy of India in Israel and the Municipality of Netanya, the event will bring together residents of all ages for a shared experience of mindfulness, physical well-being, and intercultural friendship. Distinguished representatives of the Indian Embassy and the Netanya Municipality will be in attendance.

The evening begins at 6:00 PM with a reception and informal mingling, followed at 6:30 PM by an Opening Ceremony, led in English by Dr. Sinorah Avraham, a respected figure in promoting dialogue and wellness. Warm greetings in Hebrew will follow from a senior municipal representative.

The traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing the light of knowledge, will be carried out jointly by representatives from both sides. Participants will be welcomed with the universal greeting “Namaste,” and a brief introduction will highlight the global significance of International Yoga Day and the values it promotes.

Yoga Under the Open Sky

At 7:00 PM, Yoga Guru Darshana Rajput, representing the Embassy of India, will lead a 30-minute yoga session suitable for all:

  • Sun Salutation (Surya Namaskar): A dynamic flow of 12 poses, explained and demonstrated.
  • Asana Practice: Traditional Indian yoga postures such as Padmasana, Vrikshasana, and Bhujangasana, with commentary on their physical and mental benefits.
  • Pranayama & Meditation: Breathing techniques and a short meditation to promote peace, mindfulness, and presence.

This portion of the evening aims to deepen participants’ understanding of yoga’s power as a tool for holistic health.

Indian Musical Night

At 7:30 PM, the celebration continues with a 45-minute Indian Classical Music Performance, featuring:

  • Nilimesh Chakraborty (Tabla), a distinguished artist of SPIC MACAY and ICCR.
  • Arnab Bhattacharya (Sarod), an internationally renowned musician and collaborator on global and Bollywood projects.

Their evocative performance will offer a moment of reflection, joy, and cultural beauty, uniting East and West through sound.

A Shared Message of Solidarity

This year’s theme holds special resonance: Solidarity with India and Israel in the face of terrorism, and heartfelt hopes for the safe return of hostages. As both nations confront acts of violence, the event is a reminder of our shared human resilience and desire for peace.

Why Yoga?

Yoga is an ancient Indian practice that nurtures both body and mind. Celebrated worldwide, its benefits include:

  • Physical vitality: Improved flexibility, strength, and circulation.
  • Mental peace: Reduced stress, greater emotional balance, and clarity.
  • Community cohesion: A shared space for connection, compassion, and inclusion.

Closing Remarks

The evening will conclude with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Sinorah Avraham, who will express appreciation to all attendees, artists, and especially the partners from the Embassy of India and Municipality of Netanya for making this event a reality.
