Over the years, the city of Netanya absorbed immigrants from France, the Former Soviet Union (FSU), Ethiopia (1982), South America, English speakers and more. Immigrants constitute approx. 35% of the residents of Netanya (as of May 2013).
For this purpose, the Absorption Department employs three main units that handle the different communities of immigrants from Ethiopia, France and from the Former Soviet Union (FSU). Each of these units makes an effort to accompany the immigrants in education, schooling and employment while helping with retraining or vocational training and integration in the workplace, in cooperation with the municipal industries.
