Kiryat Nordau Renewal!
Another Pinui Binui program in Kiryat Nordau has just been approved and is getting underway
The plan in Nordau Street includes 553 housing units, approximately 900 square meters of stores, public areas with preschools and day care centers, increasing the size of the existing public areas, and high-quality open-air public areas for the benefit of the residents.
As part of the plan, seven terraced houses (row houses) with 138 apartments, built during the early 1960s, will be destroyed.
The program is one of the first in the Kiryat Nordau neighborhood and joins two additional plans approved in the neighborhood:
- The Shai Agnon plan, which includes the destruction of 208 existing apartments and the construction of 872 new apartments. This plan for the granting of building permits is being expedited, and authorization of the first building permits is anticipated in the next few days.
- The Zalman Shneur plan, which includes the destruction of 128 existing apartments and the construction of 514 new apartments, which has reached the stage of deposition for public objection in recent weeks.
Mayor Miriam Feirberg-Ikar: “This is an additional pinui binui (evacuation and reconstruction) project which joins the extensive activity over the past two years of urban renewal in the city in general and in the Kiryat Nordau neighborhood in particular, which will enable a dramatic improvement in the residents’ quality of life.
It is important to note that for the first time in this project, the developer has committed to depositing a significant sum to a fund for building maintenance, for the benefit of apartment owners who will return to live in the new project.”
The plan was advanced with the help of Urban Renewal Administration, which was established by the municipality.
